Toilet paper and hand sanitizer don’t have anything on the Nintendo Switch.
The hybrid video game console has proven to be one of the most elusive items of 2020 due to supply chain disruptions related to the coronavirus pandemic, including production delays and unprecedented demand stemming from pesky reseller bots and this spring’s release of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. (The hype has been extremely real.)

For a long time, the only way to get your hands on a Switch was by buying it secondhand through Amazon, eBay, or Facebook Marketplace, which usually meant paying way more than retail price (like, hundreds more). That’s been changing only just recently, but you have to be quick: Everyone and their grandma is still trying to order the console, too.
If you’re lucky enough to find one available online, add it to your cart — and make it snappy. There have been times over the past few months where we’ve seen Switches come back in stock and sell out within minutes; they often go faster than you can refresh the product page. (And things are bound to get only more intense with the holidays approaching.)
