If you’ve recently sat in pure bafflement amid conversations on the subject of NFTs, not really knowing what the hell they are but not wanting to say so, you’re in luck.

An NFT or non-fungible token is a unique (and significantly polarising) type of cryptocurrency. They’re essentially one-of-a-kind digital collectibles that live on the blockchain — anything from Jack Dorsey’s first tweet to a “Nyan Cat” GIF. And some of them are selling for millions

The Daily Show‘s Trevor Noah, however, “found out too late” that NFT “does not stand for Nudist Fishing Trip.”

The host used his regular explainer segment “If You Don’t Know, Now Your Know” to unpack this explosive trend everyone’s trying to get rich off, explaining how NFTs work — and importantly, not leaving out their severe impact on the environment.

“Move over GameStop, there’s a new confusing internet money thing in town,” said Noah, before launching into a gloriously chaotic breakdown of the facts that actually will leave you pretty clued in.
